Scope of Project:
Re-development of existing building
Auckett Swanke transformed 30 Berkeley Square reinstating its traditional façade. The office space re-development also involved creating new rooms for one of the leading art auctioneers, Phillips. Large double height windows were incorporated into the pre-existing structure to allow natural light to illuminate the building and help create a showcase for the art of display.
Due to the original building’s location in Mayfair and the era it was constructed, 1990’s Portland Stone was highly prominent on the façade. Thus, to mirror the characteristics of the original building the new façade was made out of our very own Jordans Basebed Portland Stone. Bronze powder coated aluminium has been added decoratively on the façade to add a contemporary touch and helps emphasize Portland’s distinguishable characteristics. The choice of Portland stone means the re-development is more than sympathetic to its current environment within the Mayfair conservation.
